
MWL Secretary-General Meets Ethiopian Grand Imam to Discuss Islamic Cooperation

MAKKAH, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Alissa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, held an official meeting in his office with His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Haji Ibrahim Tufa, Grand Imam, President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, and Head of the Council of Scholars of the Republic of Ethiopia.
During the meeting, both leaders engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of topics of mutual interest, with a focus on enhancing Islamic unity, interfaith dialogue, and collaborative efforts to promote moderate Islamic values.
Sheikh Dr. Alissa praised the role of Ethiopian scholars in fostering peace and religious coexistence in the Horn of Africa. He reaffirmed the MWL’s commitment to working with leading Islamic authorities worldwide to counter extremism, promote education, and support humanitarian efforts.
The Grand Imam expressed gratitude for the MWL’s international initiatives, particularly in humanitarian work and religious education. He emphasized Ethiopia’s longstanding Islamic heritage and its scholars’ dedication to serving the Muslim Ummah.
The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening religious and intellectual ties between the Muslim World League and Ethiopia’s Islamic leadership.
