TEHRAN — Iranian authorities have arrested four operatives linked to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency in separate operations, as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to escalate. The arrests were confirmed by Sa’eed Montazer al-Mahdi, spokesperson for the Police Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during a press briefing on Sunday.
Two of the operatives were captured in Fashafuyeh, located in Ray County of Tehran Province. Police seized over 200 kilograms of explosives, launchers, and equipment for 23 drones. A Nissan pickup truck was also impounded during the operation.
Montazer al-Mahdi stated that the suspects were part of an Israeli sabotage network targeting strategic sites inside Iran using small, explosive-laden drones.
In a separate raid, two additional Mossad agents were arrested in Savojbolagh County of Alborz Province, which borders Tehran. Authorities believe all suspects were involved in coordinated acts of sabotage linked to the recent escalation in hostilities.
The arrests come just days after Israel launched airstrikes deep inside Iranian territory, including attacks on residential areas, in what Tehran has condemned as an unprovoked act of aggression.
In response, Iran has carried out large-scale retaliatory strikes under “Operation True Promise,” targeting Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem with ballistic missiles and drones. Life in many parts of the occupied territories has been paralyzed, with residents sheltering underground for extended periods.
Iranian security agencies have heightened counter-intelligence operations nationwide to thwart further sabotage attempts. The recent arrests and seizures underscore the high stakes of the ongoing conflict and the increased threat posed by foreign operatives operating inside Iranian borders.
