Israel has warned its citizens to brace for a “prolonged war” with Iran as hostilities intensified into a second week, with fresh missile salvos, airstrikes, and escalating casualties deepening the regional crisis.
The Israeli military announced on Friday that its fighter jets carried out coordinated airstrikes targeting Iranian surface-to-air missile systems in southern Iran. The strikes also reportedly killed several Iranian military commanders allegedly responsible for recent missile launches. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation successfully disrupted plans for additional missile attacks scheduled for later that evening.
In a rare daylight barrage, Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles across Israeli territory, prompting air raid sirens nationwide. While most missiles were intercepted, at least one struck the Haifa port area, wounding 45 people. Nineteen of the injured were hospitalized. Another missile hit Beersheba in southern Israel, though no injuries were reported.
As tensions escalate, Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir cautioned the nation about the possibility of sustained conflict. “We are entering difficult days,” he said in a televised address, emphasizing the need for national resilience amid growing security threats. Israeli officials indicated that military operations will continue until Iran’s ability to launch strikes is significantly degraded.
