New Zealand outclassed Pakistan with a dominant 6-2 victory in the final of the FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup 2025, securing their second consecutive title and promotion to the prestigious FIH Hockey Pro League.

At the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium, New Zealand took full control early, scoring five goals in the first half and leaving Pakistan trailing with little hope of recovery. The Kiwis had two goals disallowed in the opening minutes, but the breakthrough came when Scott Cosslett converted a penalty corner.

Jonty Elmes set up Sam Hiha for the second, followed by strikes from Dylan Thomas and Sean Findlay, who finished off a brilliant aerial assist. Just before halftime, Scott Boyde scored off a rebound, bringing the score to an emphatic 5-0 at the break.

Pakistan showed signs of revival early in the second half with a 33rd-minute goal from Moin Shakeel, injecting brief momentum into the Green Shirts’ performance. Despite creating more scoring chances, Pakistan failed to breach New Zealand’s composed defensive setup.

The commanding win not only crowned New Zealand as FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup champions but also earned them promotion to the elite FIH Pro League, reinforcing their reputation as a rising force in international hockey.

In other matches, France defeated Korea in a penalty shootout to secure bronze. Wales edged past Malaysia to claim fifth place, while Japan overcame South Africa to finish seventh.
