China Commends Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role in Promoting Regional Peace and Stability

ISLAMABAD — China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, on Tuesday praised Pakistan’s constructive and proactive diplomatic efforts for the peaceful resolution of the escalating regional security situation, particularly in the context of the Iran-Israel conflict.
During a high-level meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, the Chinese envoy acknowledged Pakistan’s positive contributions at international platforms, including the United Nations Security Council, in advocating for dialogue and diplomacy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He also expressed Pakistan’s full support for the successful organization of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and confirmed that discussions were underway for his visit to China later in August.
Reaffirming the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two nations, the prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to enhancing cooperation with China, particularly through the continued advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Key projects discussed included:
- ML-1 railway modernization
- Realignment of the Karakoram Highway (KKH)
- Operationalization of Gwadar Port
- Collaborative initiatives in agriculture, industry, and information technology
Prime Minister Sharif also conveyed deep appreciation for China’s sustained financial and economic support, which he said played a vital role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and strengthening the country’s macroeconomic outlook.
He noted that China’s assistance was instrumental in enabling the Pakistani government to pursue its socio-economic development objectives, especially amid global and regional economic challenges.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong updated the prime minister on preparations underway for his forthcoming visit to China, underlining that both sides were coordinating closely to ensure the success of high-level engagements during the SCO Summit.
The ambassador reiterated China’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties and advancing shared development goals under the CPEC framework.
