Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to strengthen bilateral ties through concrete steps in trade, investment, technology, and strategic cooperation following the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) held in Abu Dhabi.

The high-level session, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and UAE’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focused on enhancing collaboration across economic and strategic sectors. The two countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing a dynamic, multifaceted partnership built on mutual respect and regional stability.

A preliminary working group session was held ahead of the main event, led by Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa and UAE’s Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh. Both delegations underscored the importance of institutional mechanisms and inter-ministerial coordination for effective implementation of joint strategies.

Agreements Signed on Trade, AI, Visa Facilitation

Several pivotal agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed during the session, including:

  • Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements
  • Formation of a Joint Task Force to Promote Investments
  • Bilateral Agreement on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy

These accords aim to enhance ease of travel, encourage joint ventures, and foster innovation-driven economic growth between the two nations.

The Joint Ministerial Commission reached consensus on strengthening cooperation in crucial areas such as:

  • Trade and banking
  • Energy and food security
  • Climate change and defence
  • Manpower export and higher education
  • Information technology and healthcare

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to fostering regional peace and economic stability while building a future-ready partnership based on shared goals.

The session concluded with the signing of a protocol outlining follow-up procedures, coordination through sectoral working groups, and reciprocal high-level visits. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the outcomes and agreed to host the 13th JMC session in Pakistan at mutually agreed dates.

The successful convening of the JMC reaffirms the deep-rooted strategic relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, signaling a renewed focus on collaborative growth and regional influence.
