Islamabad — Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, has firmly stated that Soudi Arabia and Pakistan will not even consider normalizing relations with Israel until a fully independent and sovereign Palestinian state is established with Al-Quds as its capital.
In a video message, Ashrafi underscored that the stance of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman represents the collective position of the Islamic world. He asserted that no compromise is possible on the question of Palestinian statehood.
Referring to a post-war environment following the Iran-Israel conflict, Ashrafi highlighted what he described as a deliberate campaign to create divisions among Muslim nations. He warned against rumors suggesting that Arab and Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, might recognize Israel soon under an “Abrahamic Card” while leaving Palestinians defenseless.
Ashrafi made it clear that both Saudi Arabia and Pakistan stand united in their resolve: until Palestinians are granted an independent and sovereign homeland with Al-Quds as its capital, normalizing ties with Israel is out of the question.
He further reminded that for the past 26 years, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has advocated a two-state solution, which is also recognized in United Nations discussions. He expressed confidence that such rumors would not create discord among Muslim countries.
Ashrafi expressed gratitude that Saudi Arabia, under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and other Islamic nations remain steadfast in supporting Palestinian independence. “We hope, God willing, that Muslim countries will succeed in establishing a sovereign Palestinian state. No compromise is acceptable on this issue,” he concluded.
