OSLO — Norwegian prosecutors have charged Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, with multiple serious crimes, including rape, sexual assault, and bodily harm, following a months-long investigation involving numerous alleged victims.

On Friday, Oslo police formally announced that Høiby, 28, faces charges of one count of rape involving intercourse, two counts of rape without intercourse, four counts of sexual assault, and two counts of bodily harm.

Police attorney Andreas Kruszewski told reporters that Høiby had been fully cooperative during questioning. Investigators gathered evidence from text messages, witness statements, and police-led searches.

Defense lawyer Petar Sekulic, in an email to the Associated Press, said Høiby was “taking these allegations extremely seriously,” but denies most of the accusations, particularly those involving sexual abuse and violence.

The Norwegian royal palace has not yet released a statement regarding the case.

Høiby, who grew up with Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon alongside their two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, now lives independently nearby, according to his attorney.
