ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Sunday to discuss Pakistan’s presidency of the UN Security Council and mutual commitments to global peace and security.
During the call, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to international peace and security. He emphasized the importance of the peaceful settlement of disputes, a principle at the heart of Pakistan’s approach as it leads the UN Security Council throughout July.
Dar highlighted the Signature Events being convened by Pakistan this month to advance Security Council objectives. These events aim to promote multilateral cooperation, address emerging security threats, and strengthen the Council’s conflict-prevention mandate.
Both leaders agreed to continue their dialogue next week in New York during activities related to Pakistan’s Security Council presidency. Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s full support for the United Nations and its personnel in effectively carrying out their global responsibilities.
