Tel Aviv — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Israel will continue striking Houthi rebel targets in Yemen, following a wave of escalating cross-border attacks.
The announcement came after Israeli warplanes launched a new round of airstrikes on Sanaa and other parts of Yemen, targeting what the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described as Houthi military camps, a fuel depot, and the group’s press service headquarters.
Netanyahu recalled that Israel carried out a precision strike on Sanaa earlier this week, killing what he claimed were “most of the Houthi government members” controlling eastern Yemen. In response, the Houthis launched a drone attack on Ramon Airport in southern Israel, injuring several people.
“This did not weaken our resolve — we struck them again today from the air, their terror facilities, their terror bases, with a great number of terrorists and other facilities as well. We will continue to strike. Whoever strikes us, whoever attacks us — we will reach them,” Netanyahu said in remarks released by his office.
The Houthis, also known as the Ansar Allah movement and backed by Iran, have vowed further retaliation, warning Israel that their response will be “without fail.”
Analysts caution that Israel’s military actions in Yemen and, more recently, Qatar represent a major regional escalation of the Gaza conflict, risking wider instability across the Middle East and threatening international shipping lanes in the Red Sea.
