In a significant move, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced plans to outsource 14,000 schools as part of the Public Schools Reorganization Program. Speaking at the program’s launch event, she revealed that Punjab’s education system, which encompasses approximately 50,000 schools, is undergoing a major overhaul.
Maryam Nawaz commended the Minister of Education and his team for their efforts, emphasizing that her approach to governance involves direct interaction with the public rather than solely making decisions from her office. She highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance educational standards and provide greater relief to citizens.
The Chief Minister criticized the previous PTI government, alleging a billion-rupee corruption scandal in the Punjab Textbook Board and suggesting that former PTI education ministers should face corruption charges. She also claimed that transfers and postings during the PTI era were tainted by financial transactions.
Additionally, Maryam Nawaz noted that there has been a lack of progress in teacher training since the tenure of Shahbaz Sharif. Despite these challenges, she expressed confidence in her administration’s ability to improve the quality of education in the province.
