The United Nations has issued a stark condemnation of Israel, alleging significant violations of children’s rights in Gaza.
A recent report from a UN committee cites Israel’s military operations in the region as having devastating effects on children, describing these actions as among the most severe violations recorded in recent history.
Brigadier Gudbrandsson, the vice-chair of the committee, stated, “The alarming deaths of children in this context are almost unprecedented. This moment represents one of the darkest periods in our history. We have not seen such extensive violations before, particularly those that impact children.”
The committee oversees adherence to the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, a globally recognized agreement aimed at protecting minors from violence and other forms of abuse.
