Justice Mansoor Ali Shah Expresses Concerns Over Ordinance in Letter to Supreme Court Secretary

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has written to the Secretary of the Supreme Court Committee, raising concerns about the amended ordinance and the recent reconstitution of the Practice and Procedure Committee.

In his letter, Justice Shah questioned the removal of Justice Muneeb Akhtar from the committee without any explanation, criticizing the decision as undemocratic. He described the addition of a new member as a “one-man show,” further stating that concentrating administrative powers with the Chief Justice undermines judicial transparency.

Justice Shah outlined three conditions for his return to the committee: a full court review of the ordinance’s constitutional validity, a decision on its implementation, or the reinstatement of the previous committee, including Justice Akhtar. He also called for the formation of a full court bench to assess the ordinance.

The judge had previously left a committee meeting without participating, citing his objections to the amendments.
