Iranian Cuisine and Culinary Arts Festival Celebrated in Karachi

On the occasion of the birthdays of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS), the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran organized a vibrant Iranian Cuisine and Culinary Arts Festival in Karachi, Pakistan.

Held on Saturday evening at the Iranian Consulate, the event saw participation from Iranian women and representatives of the Pakistan Consumer Protection Association.

Iran’s Consul General, Hassan Nourian, hosted a diverse group of guests, including state government ministers, foreign diplomats, Pakistani traders, and members of the Iranian community residing in Karachi. Notable attendees included Sindh’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Jam Ikramullah, Minister of Religious Affairs, Syed Riaz Shirazi, Minister of Local Government, Saeed Ghani, Minister of Energy, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and former Federal Minister Shazia Marri, along with several female politicians and current assembly members.

The Consul General’s wife and a group of Iranian women prepared a variety of Iranian dishes and salads. Additionally, participants from the Pakistan Consumer Association showcased a range of popular local Pakistani foods.

The festival featured over 50 types of dishes, sweets, and halwa, highlighting the culinary talents of Iranian women and Pakistani workers.

In his address, the Iranian Consul General congratulated everyone on the auspicious occasions of the Prophet and Imam’s births. He emphasized the historical, religious, cultural, and geographical commonalities shared between the two neighboring countries, noting that the tradition of food and culinary arts is a significant aspect of cultural relations between Iran and Pakistan.

He mentioned that beyond cuisine, both nations share commonalities in carpets, pottery, music, local dances, qawwali, and other cultural domains.

Special guest Sharjeel Memon, Sindh’s Minister for Information and Transport, attended the event and observed the collaboration between Iranian and Pakistani chefs during the preparation of various famous and delectable dishes. At the conclusion of the program, attendees enjoyed the prepared meals together.

Consuls from Japan, Oman, Russia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and France also participated in the festival, indulging in a variety of Iranian dishes.
