In Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a protest march titled ‘Peace Pashton’ was held in Swat against the deteriorating law and order situation. This demonstration was called by the National Jirga in response to the increasing incidents of terrorism on September 27.
Following Friday prayers, citizens marched towards Nishat Chowk in Mingora. Representatives and workers from various political parties participated in the protest, carrying white flags and demanding peace.
Speakers stated that artificial terrorism is being created in Swat, leading to a disruption of peace. They emphasized that despite recent events, people are stepping out of their homes to support peace, which demonstrates that the residents of Swat are against terrorism.
Protesters expressed regret that on World Tourism Day, they had to take to the streets in a peaceful area. They stated that the terrorism in Swat is a conspiracy that is harming the region’s tourism.
Participants expressed their determination to unite for peace in Swat and stated that they have complete confidence in the police; however, they will not support any operations carried out in the name of terrorism.
