Hezbollah has confirmed the death of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, following an Israeli airstrike on the group’s central headquarters in Beirut. The militant group has vowed to continue its resistance against Israel in the wake of the attack.
The Israeli military targeted Hezbollah’s command center in Beirut yesterday, specifically aiming to kill Nasrallah. Israeli forces initially claimed that both Nasrallah and his daughter, Zeinab Nasrallah, were killed in the assault. Hezbollah has now officially confirmed their deaths.
Israel also claimed responsibility for the deaths of Mohammad Ali Ismail, the head of Hezbollah’s missile unit, and his deputy, Hussein Ahmad Ismail, though these reports have not yet been verified by Hezbollah. The Israeli military released a statement on its official social media platform, saying, “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be a threat.”
The airstrike involved 15 missiles, resulting in the destruction of six buildings, the deaths of eight individuals, and injuries to 91 others. Nasrallah was reportedly in the 14th underground floor of the targeted building.
Nasrallah had led Hezbollah for over 30 years. Following his death, the group issued a statement confirming that their fight against Israel would continue, undeterred.
