Russia has condemned the Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, calling it a **political assassination** and warning of severe consequences. In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Israel’s actions could lead to **dramatic changes in Lebanon and the entire Middle East**.
The statement referred to Israel’s heavy bombardment of a densely populated area in southern Beirut on September 27, stating, “We strongly condemn this **political assassination**.” The attack also resulted in the deaths of Lebanese civilians, which could ignite **a new wave of violence** from which escape will be difficult. Russia urged Israel to **halt its military actions** immediately to pave the way for political and diplomatic solutions.
Russia also called on the international community to take every possible step to prevent large-scale armed conflicts in the region.
