
Russia Launches Drone Attacks on Kyiv Amid Ongoing Tensions

Russia has initiated multiple waves of drone attacks targeting Kyiv early on Monday, with Ukrainian air defense units engaged in repelling the strikes for several hours, according to Ukraine’s military.
Witnesses in Kyiv reported hearing numerous blasts, suggesting active air defense systems in operation, and observed objects being intercepted in the air. Air raid alerts were issued across Kyiv, its surrounding region, and the eastern part of Ukraine starting around 1 a.m. local time (2200 GMT on Sunday).
Kyiv Mayor **Vitali Klitschko** confirmed via Telegram that several enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were detected over and near the capital. Earlier, Ukraine’s air force reported on Telegram that groups of Russian drone attacks were advancing toward Kyiv and western Ukraine. Additionally, they detected the launch of several guided bombs from Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine around 4:40 a.m. (0140 GMT).
As of now, there has been no immediate comment from Moscow regarding the attacks, which are part of a series of air assaults on Kyiv throughout September, aimed at Ukraine’s energy, military, and transport infrastructure, resulting in numerous civilian casualties.
Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the latest attacks.
