The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the Indian cricket team’s participation in the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan hinges on obtaining governmental approval. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla addressed the media during the Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, stating that the final decision will rest with the government.
“We always seek government permission for international tours. It is up to the government to decide whether the Indian team should travel to any specific country. We will comply with whatever decision they make,” Shukla remarked, highlighting the protocol for such international engagements.
Notably, the Indian team has not visited Pakistan for bilateral cricket since 2008, with encounters between the two nations limited to ICC events.
The Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan starting February 19, 2025, with infrastructure upgrades underway at cricket stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi to ensure the venues meet international standards.
