Foreign Secretary Highlights 75% Increase in Trade with African Nations

Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch announced that trade with African nations has increased by 75% in the last four years. This announcement was made during a meeting with ambassadors from 14 African countries held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a tree-planting ceremony took place.

Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its relations with Africa under the government’s Engage Africa policy. The meeting highlighted the diplomatic presence of 19 missions from African countries in Pakistan, with 14 based in the capital, Islamabad.

During the event, the ambassadors discussed their priorities and key bilateral relationship aspects, showcasing a mutual interest in collaboration. Baloch praised the contributions of the African diplomatic community in Islamabad and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to strengthen ties in sectors like trade, investment, and political relations.

The tree-planting ceremony was conducted under the theme of Pakistan-Africa Friendship, symbolizing the growing bonds between the regions. The ambassadors expressed their appreciation for the initiative and the opportunity to enhance cooperation.
