Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to postpone its planned protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, which was scheduled for October 15. The announcement was made in a late-night video statement on Monday by PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan.
Addressing PTI workers and supporters, Gauhar Ali Khan stated, “I am speaking to all PTI members and supporters. You all know that Imran Khan’s health is our top priority. Since October 3, neither any lawyer, family member, nor political leader has been allowed to meet him.”
He explained that the party’s political committee had initially called for the October 15 protest due to growing concerns over Imran Khan’s health.
“We had submitted a request to the Interior Minister, asking that either our political leadership, a doctor, or a family member be granted permission to meet him. This was to address concerns regarding his health and to reassure our workers and supporters that Imran Khan is in good condition.”
Gauhar Ali Khan further elaborated that the protest postponement also considers the upcoming SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) conference. “Our alliance requested us to defer the protest, as our friendly nations are in Islamabad for the conference. The Interior Minister has assured us that a doctor will meet with Imran Khan tomorrow. Based on this assurance, I sought time for consultation and presented this offer before the political committee and the apex committee.”
The PTI Chairman concluded, “The leadership and political committee of PTI have unanimously agreed to accept this and, therefore, we are postponing tomorrow’s protest.”
