
SCO Summit Begins in Islamabad, Featuring Prime Ministers from 8 Countries

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit has officially started today in Islamabad, with prime ministers from 8 countries in attendance. This marks the first major international event that Pakistan is hosting in 27 years, with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif presiding over the session.
The summit’s agenda includes discussions on cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and environment. Notable attendees include Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, along with the prime ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, the Uzbek Prime Minister, and the Iranian Minister of Mines are also present at the conference.
This morning, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif personally welcomed the distinguished guests at the Jinnah Convention Centre. Before the session began, all participating leaders took a group photo, followed by an inaugural address by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, officially opening the summit.
