Israeli authorities have claimed that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has been killed in an Israeli airstrike. According to international news agencies, reports of Sinwar’s death are being broadcast across Israeli media, with Israel’s state radio also affirming that Sinwar was killed in a recent military operation.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement saying they are assessing the possibility that Yahya Sinwar was targeted and killed during a raid in Gaza Strip. The military confirmed that the operation aimed at three militants, but their identities are yet to be verified.
The IDF further noted that there were no indications of hostages being present in the building that was struck. However, further investigation is underway to confirm the details.
So far, Hamas has not released an official statement regarding the reported death of Sinwar, who took over as the group’s leader following the death of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
This development could lead to further escalation between Israel and Hamas, as both sides remain locked in a cycle of attacks and retaliations, heightening tensions across the region.
