Pakistan embassy in Brussels holds informative session

The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and the Directorate General Trade (DG Trade) of the European Commission, held a significant session focused on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D). This initiative introduces new obligations aimed at safeguarding human rights and addressing climate change impacts for European economic operators and their global supply chain partners, including businesses in Pakistan.

The event attracted a robust turnout of business associations and key stakeholders from Pakistan, emphasizing the collaborative effort to understand and comply with these emerging regulations.

Gabriele Lo Monaco from the DG Trade provided a thorough presentation, detailing the framework and various obligations established under the CS3D. He elaborated on the rationale behind these regulations and outlined the enforcement mechanisms intended to uphold compliance.

The session also featured an interactive Q&A segment, allowing participants to clarify doubts and engage directly with the content presented.

Omar Hameed, the Economic Minister at the Pakistan Embassy in Brussels, expressed gratitude to the European Commission for facilitating this crucial interaction. He underscored the importance of preparedness among Pakistani businesses to navigate these new regulations effectively. Hameed noted that ensuring compliance is vital for maintaining and enhancing access to European markets.

“Our industries must adapt to these standards to sustain our trade relations with the EU,” he emphasized, urging local entities to prioritize alignment with the new directives to secure their positions in the competitive European landscape.
