
Federal Cabinet Approves Draft of 26th Constitutional Amendment

The federal cabinet has given the green light to the draft of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, a proposal backed by the government’s coalition partners, including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Minister of Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, presented a detailed overview of the amendment, which aims to reinforce constitutional stability and development.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif lauded the cabinet’s approval, calling it a “significant achievement” for the country’s progress. “This is a pivotal step towards the development, prosperity, and betterment of the nation,” said the premier, as he congratulated the public on this milestone.
He emphasized that the amendment was passed in the national interest, reaffirming the government’s focus on public welfare and maintaining constitutional integrity. “By the grace of Allah, we have stabilized the economy, and now we are advancing towards solidifying constitutional stability and upholding the rule of law,” he added.
Looking ahead, the prime minister assured continued efforts toward national development, prosperity, and stability, in line with the government’s promises to the people.
PM Shahbaz also expressed gratitude to the coalition leaders for their support. He specifically acknowledged PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar for their roles in facilitating the amendment’s progress.
