
University of Sindh Hosts Islamic Finance Sessions in Collaboration with State Bank

The Institute of Commerce and Management (ICM) at the University of Sindh (SU) has successfully conducted two sessions focused on Islamic finance, in partnership with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). These sessions were designed to enhance understanding of Islamic finance principles among faculty members and students from various disciplines, emphasizing their significance in Pakistan’s economic framework.
A university spokesperson reported that the sessions drew participation from faculty across different departments, who engaged in meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing. The student session, marked by enthusiastic involvement, showcased strong interest in Islamic finance among attendees from diverse academic backgrounds.
Adil Khokhar, Deputy Director of SBP Hyderabad, served as the keynote speaker, discussing the **SBP Vision 2027 and outlining the central bank’s objectives to bolster Islamic finance within the country.
Prof. Dr. Javeed Ahmed Chandio, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting its role in promoting Islamic finance education and research. He commended Prof. Dr. Hakim Ali Mahesar, Director of ICM, for his successful organization of the sessions and strengthening the partnership with SBP.
Prof. Mahesar pointed out the critical need for collaboration between academia and industry, reaffirming ICM’s commitment to equipping students with practical skills. He noted that the separate sessions for students and faculty underscore a dedication to fostering excellence in Islamic finance education.
