Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires Faraz Zaidi inaugurated a poignant photo exhibition at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, commemorating Kashmir Black Day. This event aims to raise awareness of India’s human rights violations in the Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and highlight the ongoing struggles of the Kashmiri people.
Running for a week, the exhibition presents photographic evidence depicting the atrocities faced by Kashmiris, offering a stark visual narrative of their plight.
During the inauguration, Zaidi honored the resilience of the Kashmiri people, who have persisted in their fight for self-determination amidst decades of oppression. He emphasized the importance of **October 27**, the date that marks the beginning of Indian forces’ illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, initiating a prolonged era of violence and repression.
“India’s occupation of Kashmir has led to numerous human rights violations, with the people of IIOJK enduring significant hardships,” Zaidi stated. “Their spirit remains unbroken in the face of injustice. The international community must intervene to halt the bloodshed and alleviate the suffering of these defenseless individuals.”
Zaidi underscored the critical role such exhibitions play in educating the global audience about the severity of the situation in IIOJK, enabling visitors to comprehend the extensive human rights abuses that have persisted over decades.
He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri cause, stating, “Pakistan will continue to advocate for Kashmir on every platform until the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination is realized. We stand firmly by our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle for freedom from Indian subjugation.”
The exhibition invites people from all walks of life to engage with the ongoing humanitarian crisis in IIOJK and reflect on the urgent need for global action to address these injustices. It compellingly documents incidents of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and the suppression of fundamental freedoms, drawing on reports from the United Nations, international non-governmental organizations, and global media outlets to emphasize the brutal nature of the occupation.
