Prime Minister Orders Immediate Dispatch of Relief Goods to Gaza and Lebanon

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed relevant authorities to urgently send two planeloads of relief supplies to Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of utilizing both land and aerial routes for effective aid delivery.

Chairing a meeting to assess ongoing relief efforts for Palestine and Lebanon, the Prime Minister underscored the need for improved coordination with Pakistan’s ambassadors in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt to facilitate the timely dispatch of essential goods.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, he stressed that relief items must reach those in dire need. In a call to the public and expatriates, Prime Minister Shahbaz encouraged generous donations to the Prime Minister’s Fund for Gaza and Lebanon, sharing the account details: IBAN: PK11SBPD0000001111114292. He also instructed the relevant authorities to launch an awareness campaign to inform citizens about the government-established Relief Fund.

During the meeting, officials briefed the Prime Minister on the types of relief supplies being sent, including winter tents, clothing, blankets, medicines, and food items for those affected by the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon. The meeting also noted that Israeli attacks and the blockade are obstructing the flow of aid to the impacted regions.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister assured that the government would support NGOs wishing to send relief assistance to Gaza and Lebanon. Key participants in the meeting included Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, as well as senior officials from the Higher Education Commission and the National Disaster Management Authority.
