The spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, announced that Pakistan has submitted an application for membership in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). She clarified that Pakistan was not invited to the latest BRICS summit and is currently not a member of the organization.
In a recent weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Baloch highlighted that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is attending the Commonwealth meeting, where he emphasized the importance of empowering youth. Dar also underscored the significance of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program in providing leadership opportunities to the younger generation.
Additionally, the spokesperson condemned Israeli attacks, labeling them as violations of international law. She pointed out that the Foreign Minister addressed the commencement of the Commonwealth Youth Program, commending the efforts of young people towards environmental improvement.
On the diplomatic front, Baloch stated that there have been no formal meetings between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and India, though customary exchanges of pleasantries took place.
