Justice Mansoor Ali Shah Withdraws from Supreme Court Bench

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the Supreme Court has officially recused himself from participating in a special bench, as communicated in a letter to Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial dated October 23. This decision stems from his earlier declaration to abstain from special benches until a full court reviews the amendment ordinance.

In his letter, Justice Shah invoked a quote from Sir Thomas More, which reflects on the consequences politicians face when they compromise their personal convictions for public duties. He emphasized that citizens are keen observers of the actions taken by those in power and highlighted the long-lasting implications of their decisions.

The correspondence was directed to the Chief Justice in his role as the head of the Practice and Procedure Committee, indicating the ongoing deliberations within the court regarding significant legal matters .
