Bushra Bibi Released from Adiala Jail After 9 Months in Toshakhana Case

Former First Lady Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, has been released on bail from Adiala Jail after spending nine months in custody. Her release took place under tight security from Gate 5 of the jail, after which she was escorted to her residence in Bani Gala.

Yesterday, an accountability court approved her bail request in the Toshakhana II case, and today, the release orders were issued. The formal release process was completed in the office of the jail superintendent.

Bushra Bibi had been serving her sentence since January 31 of this year, when she was convicted and sentenced to 14 years in the Toshakhana case. After the court’s verdict, she voluntarily surrendered herself to jail. Initially, she was placed under house arrest at her Bani Gala residence, which was declared a sub-jail by the Islamabad Commissioner. Later, the Islamabad High Court suspended her sentence, but she was rearrested in connection with the Toshakhana II case.
