The Secretary General of the OIC called for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, has condemned Israel’s actions in Lebanon and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Speaking at an international conference in Paris convened to support Lebanon, Taha reaffirmed the OIC’s commitment to the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The conference was organized at the request of French President Emmanuel Macron to rally global backing for Lebanon amidst the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis.

Taha condemned what he described as Israel’s “brutal aggression” against Lebanon and stressed the need for an immediate halt to hostilities. He urged the international community to work towards lasting peace by fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution of disputes in the region.

Additionally, the OIC Secretary-General appealed to states and international organizations to boost humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the conflict, including forcibly displaced individuals.

The Paris conference aimed to unite international efforts to address the ongoing crisis in Lebanon and provide much-needed humanitarian support.
