Chinese Ambassador Warns: CPEC’s Success Hinges on Security for Chinese Nationals; Attacks Unacceptable

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong has voiced stern concerns over the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan, calling it the primary hurdle to moving forward with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Speaking at the “China at 75” seminar hosted by the Pakistan-China Institute, Ambassador Jiang underscored that recent attacks on Chinese nationals, including two fatal incidents in the past six months, are “unacceptable.”

Ambassador Jiang urged Pakistan to deliver severe penalties to those involved in anti-China terrorism and highlighted that a secure environment is indispensable for advancing CPEC projects. “President Xi Jinping places the safety of Chinese citizens above all else,” he remarked, calling on Pakistan to enhance protective measures around Chinese citizens, institutions, and ongoing projects.
