New Zealand has achieved a clean sweep against India in a three-match Test series, finishing with a 25-run victory in the final match held in Mumbai. This marks a significant moment in cricket history, as the Kiwis triumphantly return home with a 3-0 series win.
Chasing a target of 147 runs, the Indian team struggled throughout their innings, ultimately bowing out for just 121. New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel was the standout performer with the ball, claiming six wickets, while Glenn Phillips chipped in with three crucial dismissals. Captain Rohit Sharma led the Indian side but could only manage 11 runs, with fellow batsmen Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Sarfaraz Khan contributing a mere single run each.
In their first innings, New Zealand posted 235 runs, followed by 174 in their second, while India had earlier scored 263 in their first innings but faltered badly in the second.
The series started with New Zealand securing an emphatic eight-wicket win in Bengaluru, marking their first Test victory against India on home soil in 36 years. The last time India experienced a series whitewash at home was in 2000 when they faced South Africa. This victory will undoubtedly boost New Zealand’s confidence as they continue to establish their dominance in Test cricket.
