Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf conducted a significant official visit to the Netherlands, where he engaged with the country’s military and naval leadership. According to a news release from the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Ashraf held a combined meeting with top military officials at the Ministry of Defence, focusing on enhancing bilateral defense collaboration.
During discussions, the Naval Chief emphasized the necessity of increasing interactions between the armed forces of both nations through joint exercises and training exchange programs. He articulated the mutual benefits of such initiatives, aimed at fortifying military cooperation in various domains.
Vice Admiral Boudewijin Boots, Deputy Chief of Defence of the Netherlands, echoed Admiral Ashraf’s sentiments, underscoring the importance of robust bilateral military cooperation. He expressed a desire to expand collaborations across multiple military spheres.
Admiral Ashraf also visited the Royal Netherlands Navy Headquarters, where he met with Vice Admiral René Tas, Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy. They deliberated on matters concerning defense ties, mutual naval collaboration, and regional maritime security, highlighting Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting stability through initiatives like the Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP) and participation in the Combined Maritime Force.
The Naval Chief’s itinerary included a visit to the DAMEN Shipyard of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Zeven De Provinciën Class Frigate, where he received comprehensive briefings on ship maintenance and construction activities.
Admiral Ashraf’s visit is expected to further bolster defense relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands, particularly in the naval sector, fostering enhanced collaboration in maritime security and defense capabilities.
