Arab Foreign Ministers Reject Trump’s Call for Palestinian Relocation from Gaza
Arab foreign ministers have unanimously rejected the proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, emphasizing that such a move would destabilize the region and jeopardize peace efforts.
Following a consultative meeting in Cairo, ministers from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League issued a joint statement condemning any forced displacement of Palestinians. They warned that such actions would escalate tensions and undermine the prospects for lasting peace.
Saudi Arabia’s delegation, led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, participated in the discussions, which also addressed the ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange of hostages. The meeting focused on enhancing security for Palestinians in occupied territories and ensuring their stability.
The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution and discussed preparations for the upcoming international conference on the Palestinian issue, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France in June 2025.
The seven-point agenda agreed upon in the meeting included:
- A permanent ceasefire and ensuring the safe return of refugees.
- Increased humanitarian aid to Gaza with the removal of all obstacles.
- The complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and rejection of any attempts to divide the territory.
- The restoration of full administrative control to the Palestinian Authority.
- Support for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
- Full solidarity with Palestinians in securing their legitimate rights under international law.
- Urging the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to implement a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, including Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank.
The ministers also acknowledged the mediation efforts of Egypt and Qatar in achieving a ceasefire while recognizing the U.S.’s role in negotiations.
The meeting concluded with a firm stance against any forced relocation of Palestinians, reaffirming that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through diplomatic means and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
