Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid, Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram, delivered a deeply emotional and spiritually charged Hajj sermon today at Masjid Nimrah, praying for the oppressed in Palestine and urging Muslims around the world to embrace piety, unity, and truth.
Standing before millions of pilgrims gathered at the plains of Arafat, Sheikh Humaid offered a heartfelt supplication, saying:
“O Allah, help our brothers in Palestine. Destroy the killers of women and children. Uproot their steps, divide their ranks, and bring ruin upon the enemies of the oppressed.”
This year’s sermon was broadcast live in 35 languages, including Urdu and English, allowing Muslims around the globe to connect with the powerful spiritual message delivered on Islam’s most sacred day of the Hajj.
Key Themes of the Arafah Sermon:
- Call for Piety (Taqwa): Sheikh Humaid emphasized that taqwa is the distinguishing trait of true believers and a path to Paradise.
- Warning Against Arrogance: The Imam reminded the Ummah that Allah does not favor the proud and that even the smallest good deed holds immense value.
Imam Humaid warned against spreading mischief on earth, as strictly forbidden by Allah. He highlighted the deceptive tactics of Satan, who fosters hatred and division among people. He urged Muslims to resist evil, saying that good deeds erase bad ones and bring divine rewards.
Emphasis on Faith and Ethical Conduct
- Islam’s Three Levels: The Imam spoke about Islam’s three core levels—Islam, Iman, and Ihsan—with Ihsan being the highest, involving worshiping Allah as if one sees Him.
- Ethical Behavior: He stressed the importance of truthfulness, kindness to parents, fulfilling promises, and avoiding slander and innovation.
- Reminder of the Afterlife: Belief in the Day of Judgment, Paradise, and Hell is essential, he noted, adding that Allah’s pleasure is greater than even the reward of Heaven.
The sermon concluded with prayers for the well-being of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, seeking health, ease, and success for the Saudi leadership.
Following the sermon, pilgrims offered combined Zuhr and Asr prayers led by Sheikh Humaid. After sunset, they departed Arafat for Muzdalifah, where they will collect pebbles for Ramy al-Jamarat (stoning the devil)
Hajj Ritual Highlights:
- 10 Dhul-Hijjah: Pilgrims will perform Ramy (stoning of the major Jamarah), sacrifice animals, shave or trim hair, and exit the state of Ihram.
- 11-13 Dhul-Hijjah: Pilgrims will stone all three Jamarat and later proceed for Tawaf al-Ziyarah and Sa’i between Safa and Marwah.
- Final Day: On 13 Dhul-Hijjah, the final stoning will be performed before pilgrims return to their accommodations, concluding the rites of Hajj.
