Babar Azam has officially stepped down as the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in One Day Internationals (ODIs). After consultations with his family and close friends, Babar decided to resign, following discussions he had been having for several days regarding his leadership role. His close associates had advised him to consider stepping down from the captaincy.

The proposal to take on the captaincy prior to the T20 World Cup was initially suggested by his family. Babar’s reluctance to accept the captaincy for the Champions Trophy was seen as an early indication of his intent to resign.

Reflecting on his time in leadership, Babar expressed that while the experience was valuable, the increasing workload had become a significant factor in his decision.
