Belarusian President Hosts Informal Meeting with Pakistan’s PM Shahbaz Sharif and PML-N Leader Nawaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif of Pakistan met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in an informal gathering ahead of official bilateral talks.
The meeting took place at President Lukashenko’s private countryside residence, where he hosted a special dinner in honor of the Pakistani delegation Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, underscoring the personal rapport between the two leaders. Their presence signaled the importance Pakistan places on its ties with Belarus.
President Lukashenko expressed warm sentiments toward both Shahbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif, referring to Nawaz as “a true friend,” further reinforcing the cordial nature of the interaction. Nawaz Sharif remarked that Belarus is the first country the family has visited together in an official capacity, reflecting the depth of goodwill shared between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, the Belarus-Pakistan Business Council convened in Minsk, hosting a forum that brought together government and business leaders to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, manufacturing, and energy.
The official talks between Pakistan and Belarus are scheduled for April 11, during which the two sides are expected to finalize agreements aimed at enhancing economic collaboration, food security strategies, and cultural partnerships.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif extended sincere gratitude to President Lukashenko for his hospitality and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to building a stronger, more dynamic partnership with Belarus.
