President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, landed in Islamabad on Monday for a three-day official visit, following an invitation from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The high-profile visit aims to bolster bilateral relations and expand cooperation between the two nations.
President Lukashenko was welcomed at Nur Khan Airbase, Rawalpindi, by Prime Minister Sharif, along with senior cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar. Children in traditional Pakistani attire greeted the visiting dignitary with bouquets of flowers, showcasing Pakistan’s cultural warmth.
During his stay, the Belarusian President is scheduled to hold comprehensive talks with PM Shahbaz Sharif to explore avenues of collaboration. Several agreements and MoUs are expected to be finalized, covering key areas of mutual interest.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Sharif expressed his pleasure at hosting President Lukashenko, emphasizing the “strong fraternal relations” between Pakistan and Belarus and a shared commitment to strengthening them further.
The visit is seen as a milestone in fostering closer ties and enhancing bilateral cooperation across economic, technological, and cultural sectors.
