Chief Justice took notice of the issuance of the second explanation of the 8 judges

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has sought an explanation from Deputy Registrar Mujahid Mahmood of the Supreme Court. He has also called for clarification from Assistant Registrar Shahid Habib and Webmaster Asim Javed.

This inquiry follows the issuance of a second clarification by the eight judges who previously delivered a majority ruling on the case. Chief Justice Isa questioned how such a clarification was made without the submission of the original file.

Sources indicate that the Deputy Registrar and Assistant Registrar have been issued notices for clarification regarding the matter. The Chief Justice further inquired with the Webmaster about how a clarification was posted on the Supreme Court’s website without the original file being submitted.

Notably, the eight judges had released their second explanation in response to a request from the Election Commission. The Election Commission stated that amendments to the Election Act should not render the decision made on July 12 ineffective, asserting that past applicability of the amendments cannot invalidate the ruling.
