BEIJING — China has strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Iran, warning that the sudden escalation threatens regional peace and security. Beijing offered to mediate between the two nations to help prevent a wider conflict.
During a press briefing on Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian expressed serious concern over the Israeli strikes on multiple Iranian targets, including locations in Tehran. “We are closely following the developments and are deeply concerned about the potential consequences of these actions,” Lin stated.
Lin reaffirmed China’s opposition to any measures that infringe upon the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran. He emphasized that such actions violate international norms and only serve to fuel instability across the Middle East.
“The current escalation does not benefit any side,” Lin noted, urging all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint. He appealed for efforts aimed at de-escalation and urged governments to avoid actions that could expand the conflict.
Positioning itself as a neutral actor, China reiterated its willingness to play a “constructive role” in easing tensions. Lin emphasized that Beijing supports any initiative that promotes peace, dialogue, and regional cooperation.
China’s statement adds to a growing chorus of international appeals for calm following Israel’s latest strikes. As diplomatic tensions rise, calls for urgent dialogue and peaceful resolution are gaining momentum.
