China has imposed sanctions on seven major US military-industrial companies for their involvement in providing arms to Taiwan. These sanctions, which will take effect from December 27, 2024, target companies such as Ericom, Hudson Technologies, Institu, Oceaneering International, Raytheon Australia, Raytheon Canada, and Saronic Technologies.
In a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was confirmed that the sanctions include freezing the real estate and other assets of these companies and their staff within China. Additionally, Chinese businesses and individuals are prohibited from engaging in any form of trade, cooperation, or interaction with these US companies.
The sanctions were levied in response to the recent announcement by the United States to increase its military aid and continue selling weapons to Taiwan. Beijing views this move as a severe interference in its internal affairs and a threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Chinese government has reiterated its stance that Taiwan is a part of China, and any foreign arms sales to the island are unacceptable.
