China Stages Military Parade as Xi Jinping Stands with Putin and Kim Jong Un

Beijing — China marked the 80th anniversary of Japan’s World War II surrender with a massive military parade in Tiananmen Square, where President Xi Jinping was joined by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in a rare public show of unity.

The parade, attended by more than 50,000 people, showcased over 10,000 troops and an array of China’s advanced weapons, signaling Beijing’s intent to modernize its armed forces and reaffirm its growing global military influence.

The parade highlighted China’s expanding defense capabilities, including:

During talks in Beijing, Putin invited Kim Jong Un to visit Russia and expressed readiness to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Moscow, a move that could influence the course of the Ukraine conflict.

In Washington, US President Donald Trump accused China, Russia, and North Korea of “conspiring against America.” Putin dismissed the charge, remarking that the US president “does not lack a sense of humor.”

The day ended with a cultural performance titled Justice Will Prevail at the Great Hall of the People. The gala featured patriotic music, theatrical performances, and tributes to World War II veterans, reinforcing Xi’s message of unity under the Communist Party and China’s modernization drive.
