ISLAMABAD — Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has called for enhanced collaboration between Pakistan and China to safeguard regional peace, stability, and mutual prosperity. Speaking at a symposium marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the envoy stressed the need to implement the consensus reached by the leadership of both nations and strengthen the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
Ambassador Jiang recalled the deep historical bonds between the two countries, noting Pakistan’s role during China’s war of resistance. “Karachi’s port operated tirelessly to transship strategic materials for the Allies, supporting China in its fight,” he said, adding that these shared sacrifices remain a precious chapter in China-Pakistan friendship.
Highlighting China’s role in defeating fascism, Jiang said the Chinese people endured the longest resistance, suffered over 35 million casualties, and played a decisive role in securing victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. He credited the Communist Party of China for leading national resistance and uniting the country during the 14-year struggle.
Jiang emphasized that as founding members of the United Nations and key members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, both countries have consistently supported a UN-centered international order. He reaffirmed China’s dedication to multilateralism, peaceful development, and win-win cooperation, noting that the Chinese military has deployed over 50,000 peacekeepers to UN missions in more than 20 countries over the past 35 years.
Under President Xi Jinping’s leadership, Jiang said China is advancing the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative to promote a fair, inclusive, and multi-polar world. He highlighted China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has agreements with over 150 countries and 30 international organizations, contributing to shared growth and sustainable development.
