Rawalpindi — Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, reaffirmed the enduring strength of Pakistan-China military ties during a ceremony marking the 98th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, held at GHQ Rawalpindi.

The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, who served as the chief guest, alongside Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defense Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior Pakistani military officers from the tri-services.

In his address, COAS Munir emphasized the unique and time-tested bond between Pakistan and China. He highlighted the strategic depth of their military cooperation, stating that the relationship has remained steadfast in the face of shifting regional and global dynamics.

> “Our relationship with China is built on mutual trust, shared values, and an unshakeable commitment to peace and security,” Munir stated.

He reiterated that the Pakistan Army and the PLA are “true brothers-in-arms,” whose collaboration will continue to safeguard mutual interests and regional stability

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed sincere gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s hospitality and reaffirmed China’s commitment to its “iron-clad” partnership with Islamabad. He acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in combating terrorism and promoting regional stability.

“This celebration not only honors the legacy of the PLA but also reinforces our defense cooperation, which continues to serve as a cornerstone of regional peace,” the envoy remarked.

The 98th PLA Day comes amid growing strategic cooperation between the two nations, ranging from joint military drills and defense manufacturing to border security and intelligence collaboration.

The event showcased the shared resolve of Pakistan and China to deepen defense ties, particularly under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and evolving regional challenges.

COAS Munir concluded by reaffirming that the Pakistan Army will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the PLA in safeguarding both nations’ sovereignty and promoting a stable, multipolar Asia.
