Concerns Raised by Punjab Governor Over University VC Appointments

Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider, has raised significant objections regarding the recent summary sent by the Chief Minister for the appointment of Vice Chancellors at 14 provincial universities.

In his remarks, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the names put forward by the search committee, pointing out that some candidates face corruption allegations. He noted that the Chief Minister’s Office submitted only one name per university, contrary to the expected procedure of proposing three candidates for consideration.

Haider criticized the Chief Minister’s approach, asserting that no clear recommendations can be made without the required three names presented in alphabetical order. He also indicated that he has gathered evidence suggesting a lack of transparency within the search committee, calling into question the integrity of the selection process.

Moreover, the governor highlighted ongoing allegations of corruption and management issues associated with the chosen candidates, further underlining his discontent with the appointments.
