The Taliban enforced a public execution in Gardez, Paktia, applying Islamic Qisas and Diyat laws to administer capital punishment to a man convicted of killing a Taliban official.
Reports indicate that a significant crowd, including citizens and prominent figures such as interim Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, senior judicial, and military officials, gathered to witness the event. Strict measures were taken to prevent any recording, with attendees barred from bringing mobile phones or cameras into the execution site.
The execution was carried out by a family member of the deceased as per the ruling. The Taliban disclosed that Ayaz Asad, accused of the killing, was sentenced to death after a detailed review and hearings in a military court that rigorously assessed the evidence.
