Crackdowns On Border Immigration, Citizenship, Economy And Gender On Donald Trump’s First Day Agenda
On his first day back in office, US President Donald Trump has announced sweeping changes to the country’s immigration, economic, and diversity policies through a series of executive orders.
Trump declared a national emergency at the US-Mexico border and ordered the resumption of border wall construction. Additionally, he authorized the deployment of troops along the border and reinstated the controversial Remain-in-Mexico policy, which requires asylum seekers to wait outside the US while their claims are processed.
In another major immigration move, Trump signed an order ending birthright citizenship for children born in the US to undocumented immigrants.
Regarding domestic policy, Trump issued an order dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the federal government. Another executive action defines US policy to recognize only two biological sexes—male and female.
These immediate actions underscore Trump’s commitment to aggressively rolling back policies from the previous administration and reshaping US governance according to his campaign promises.
