Thousands rallied In Paris, on Wednesday night, protesting a high-profile and contentious gala held by Israel’s far-right. The event, shrouded in secrecy, was designed to raise funds but has become a flashpoint for dissent amid ongoing Israeli-Palestinian tensions.
The demonstration, organized by pro-Palestinian groups and the leftist *France Unbowed Party (LFI)*, drew significant attention ahead of Thursday’s France-Israel football match. Activist Salim from the BDS movement called the event “an invitation to incite racial hatred,” accusing participants of making inflammatory remarks against Palestinians.
Despite requests for intervention, French authorities allowed the event, citing “no major threat to public order.” While the protest was largely peaceful, isolated incidents of vandalism occurred, including damage to a McDonald’s and a Carrefour store.
Security will be tight for Thursday’s game, with 4,000 police officers set to be deployed.
